PapillonI found a dead butterfly today in the yard. I would've stepped right over it and not even noted the death had I not been staring at the ground while I walked, head bowed in contemplation. It's a strange thing to see something so delicate and bright once it's dead. In the same way that photos cannot replace real people, the butterfly seems so fake. Lifeless, the yellows so much paler, like washed out and sun-faded sticky-notes. The blacks are only greys, and suddenly the beauty that flitted around wantonly has a sick and bizarre insectile head. Bright colours and forms are only functional, and up close, the butterfly is as ugly as anythiPapillon
